I have moved my hosting service to Godaddy since I was told the Godaddy is good and my old hosting service was terrible. The following is something about my experience of hosting service in Netfirms.
Three years ago, I registered domain names with my name and had a hosting service in Netfirms. I did not care about the hosting service at the biginning because I just put a WordPress and little bit informatin about me. Later on I registered a .ca domain name as I want to do something. When I setup the .ca donaim, I felt the speed of my website was slow. The webpage connecting a database was slower. As I was new new to hosting service and there was only one website, I did not pay much attention on it.
Last month, I decided to update my website. I found out the speed of the website was very very slow. It took a minute or longer to load a webpager that connecting to a database. The database admin, phpadmin could not login when I cteated a new database. I emailed to tell this problem to technical surpport. They told me the problem was solved. Yes, it was solved. Later on, the same problem happened again. I told them with email twice. I did not get any responce any more. Then there was a “Internal problem” when I edited my webpages and tested it. I told the technical support and got a respond second day. However, this was not the technical responding to me. It was a sale. The sales said my sites used the server resouce over 18%. The pacentage was over the limited of my hosting account, and asked me to upgrade my pakege which is cost more. But I replied her the database admin problem. Then I got an email saying the admin problem was solved. Yes, it was solved. But I was thinking move my hosting service away. I guessed because I did not replied upgrading pakege issue, the sales emailed the issue was closed. In the mean time, my sites was very very slow.
Couple days later, I thought my sites was not so busy, why the pacentage of the resouce useage was so high and my sites were so slow. I emailed back with the email the sales to me and the some data of my sites visiting, and asking if I needed to upgrade the pakage. The tech told me either to recode your scripts or upgrade to a better plan. At this time, I made a decision to move hosting service away from Netfirmt.
After I bought a hosting service in Godaddy, I changed the nameservers to Godaddy’s in one of my sites in Netfirms. I found it was much fast to load webpages. I changed the site of the namesrvers back to Netfirms’ in Netfirms after testing. I decided to move all my sites to Godaddy then.
A day later, Netfirms called me about my hosting service in the moring. Then I found the speed of my sites in Netfirms was much much faster that time. But it conld not change my mind to move my hosting service to Godaddy. Goodbye Netfirms.
PS: Other things I was not happy to Netfirms. They set your plan to auto renew on and you cannot turn it off. You cannot change your credit card information. You can not find the way to cancel your account in the administation panel. You have to phone them and tell them your ID and password to cancel your account. I emailed to them twice for asking how to cancel accoute and I did not get any answers.
